South Mississippi Methodist Cursillo
Why aren't you grouping?
If you are still involved in Cursillo in any form, you can remember your candlelight and your clausura. Your heart was melting, your spirit elated and you had a peace in you that you had never had before. Don't you want it back, all those warm fuzzies and that overall good feeling that permeated your body and soul? You can bring all those pleasant and wonderful feelings back into your life by GROUPING.
You've heard it said many times that Cursillo was the spark while Grouping is the flame.
Let me tell you a little bit about my Thursday night group. Four partners, four different life situations, but all 4 couples fixed with their eyes on Jesus. We all get excited on Thursday morning in anticipation of our grouping together that evening. We share our most intimate secrets, our hopes and hurts and pray for each other's needs. We grow together. We even plan social functions once a month to prevent us from taking ourselves too seriously. I can't begin to tell you how much those Thursday nights have meant to Ann and myself.
Occasionally we cook a meal. This tends to take extra time in the evening but is well worth the Christian fellowship. Other weeks the host has coffee and desserts or light snacks like cake, pie, chips and dip. The Cursillo snacks reminds you of the Saturday night party.
We like to use the manual, the Emmaus Guide, for grouping guidelines to keep us on track. We go through all the steps one at a time. This guide makes grouping special and covers the full spectrum of your spiritual walk in the past week.
I challenge you. Bring back your Cursillo through grouping. Find 8 to 10 people, couples or singles, Cursillistas, that are not grouping, and try to find a night or early morning or whatever time that all can agree upon to meet and give it a try! I know there are scout meetings, soccer, piano lessons, dance, and everything else from A-Z, but isn't your spirituality worth an investment in time too?
Ultreya,
Don
